#1: I 𝖽̶𝖾̶𝖼̶𝗂̶𝖽̶𝖾̶𝖽̶ ̶𝗍̶𝗈̶ ̶𝗉̶𝖺̶𝗋̶𝗍̶ ̶𝗐̶𝖺̶𝗒̶𝗌̶ got fired. Then decided to write a book.
Good luck, bad luck, who knows?
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Most books start with an idea. Mine started with a firing. One moment I was a customer success manager living within a comfort zone cloud. The next, I was staring into a blank space, asking: could I turn this chaos into something worth living for?
I worked at Catapult Sports for 6.5 years and in January I got fired. My world turned a bit messy.
Let’s zoom out:
🏡T–30 days: Upgraded home, pricier rent
👩❤️💋👨T–2 days: Tried for baby #2
😄T–1 day: Eagerly finished my New Year’s professional and personal goals
😰T+14 days: Clearblue turned positive. I turned blue, blurry and negative
Utter EMBARRASSMENT. GUILT. FEAR.
But maybe getting fired might’ve been my lucky charm.
For the past six months, I slowed down, reflected, and faced uncomfortable questions.
I’ve been following a primal darwinistic creative energy that overpowers new fathers with the impulse to build a safer world. Like a modern echo of ancient instincts once meant to save your kin from lions or freezing winters.
For me, that turned into writing.
One article spiraled into a tangled, monstrous mess.
But at its core it touched on something vital. A thread of who I’m becoming.
The only way to unravel it?
Take a chance on myself—and write a book.
📆 Deadline: 12 months to publish.
Just one problem: my writing training tops out at a B+ in freshman Writing 101.
Where the hell do you even start?
Can I actually finish this thing before I lose my mind?
Will anyone make it to the end?
To find out, join me in my journey—I’ll be sharing unfiltered lessons, creative chaos, and (fingers crossed) something with a cover and my name on it next summer.
Next Up: On the fear of taking this decision and why I decided to do it.
